Shoot at sight order issued as more than 35 people died in the riot breakout at Imphal Valley of Manipur. Indian Army and Assam Rifles deployed to bring the situation under contoll.
Manipur is burning again. But this time its not an external fight rather its an internal fight between Tribals and Non-tribal residents of Mnipur. This is the violance breakout between Mnipur hill based Tribal and Manipur valley based Meiteis.
Meithei Manipuris hold 53% of total polpulation of Manipur. But they only hold 10% of the total land of the state. But when Meiteis dremt to have rise in their rights to hold more lands in Manipur, the tribal communities including Naga, Kuki and others starts the chapter of destruction.
It all started on April 19 when High Court of Manipur orders the state govenment to consider the case of the petitioners for inclusion of the Meitei community in the Scheduled Tribe list, expeditiously, preferably within a period four weeks. But the court has also clarifies that the decision for inclusion of Meiteis in the ST list would be examined by the Union Tribal Affairs ministry, if only once it received the state government’s recommendation.
This order makes rise to jealousy among the local tribal people of Manipur and they starts to agigate against the High Court decision and demands for not including Meitei community in Schedule Tribe list.
After the milestone declaration of High Court, tribals burnt an open GYM on April 27 which was supposed to be inagurated by CM N. Biren Singh on April 28. Section 144 imposed to controll the situation and internet service suspended for 5 days. But this makes no change to the situation rather protesters continued their violance.
On May 3 near about 60,000 of tribal aggigators saterted destruction under the banner of All Tibal Students Union of Mnipur (ATSUM) and others. On May 4, the mob attacked the valley people, the clash between Meitei and Tribals takes an unstopabble mood. In reply to attack on them the Meitei people starts to burn the Christian Missionarries and Churches over there. All there is just gun, fire and bomb. Assam Riffles and Indian Army called to tackle the situation. But the mob also seems like smashing the army.
The protesters holding arms like AK-47 got viral on social media. As some says, it is not so hard to believed that the protesters are actually the suspended Kuki militants. More than 35 people have already died during this incidents and countless injuries. Finally when the situation goes totally out of controll the government declares the shoot-at-sight order on May 4.
