Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has addressed the ongoing tensions between Assam and Meghalaya, urging a cautious approach to handling the situation. In a press meeting in Guwahati, Sarma emphasized the importance of managing the issue without escalating the problems for Assamese travelers.
Sarma explained that he is in regular communication with the Meghalaya government, which is working hard to control the situation. However, he cautioned that making too many public comments could lead to further complications for people traveling from Assam to Silchar through Meghalaya.
The Chief Minister highlighted the need for silent diplomacy in such sensitive matters. He noted that excessive public statements could jeopardize the safety and security of Assamese travelers. Sarma pointed out that, as Chief Minister, he must be careful with his comments to avoid worsening the situation.
Despite his reserved public stance, Sarma assured that he is actively working behind the scenes to ease tensions and resolve the issues. He stressed that comments should be made only when absolutely necessary and that he is committed to finding a solution to improve the current situation.
