Karimganj Youth Arrested in Silchar with YABA Worth 5.5 Crore

Police Operation on Kathal Road Near NH 7 Bypass Nets Karimganj Youth with 18,000 YABA Tablets Worth 5.5 Crore

A Karimganj youth was arrested in Silchar with 18,000 YABA tablets valued at 5.5 crore rupees. The drugs were transported illegally from Aizawl.
Based on secret information, Cachar Police conducted a major drug operation on August 8, 2024. At around 9:15 PM, they stopped a motorcycle on Kathal Road near the NH 7 bypass in Silchar. The motorcycle, with registration number AS10E3552, was ridden by Md. Mehboob Alam, a 37-year-old from Moinagram, Karimganj.

During a detailed search, police found 18,000 YABA tablets hidden in secret compartments of the motorcycle. The total market value of the seized drugs is approximately 5.5 crore rupees.

The YABA tablets were illegally transported from Aizawl, Mizoram. Both the motorcycle and the drugs have been confiscated. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to probe into the drug trafficking operation.
