ABVP-TMC Clash in Silchar Over Mamata Banerjee Effigy Burning

Tussle Broke Out Between Police and ABVP Members During Attempt to Burn the Effigy

ABVP-TMC clash erupted in Silchar as ABVP protested the RG Kar Medical doctor’s rape-murder by burning Mamata Banerjee’s effigy, leading to police intervention.

A clash erupted in Silchar between ABVP and TMC supporters on Saturday during a protest organized by the ABVP. The protest was held to condemn the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. As part of the demonstration, ABVP members attempted to burn an effigy of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Students from various colleges in Silchar participated in the rally, which moved through the city’s streets, holding placards and chanting slogans against Mamata Banerjee. The rally led to a confrontation when it reached Park Road, where the Trinamool Congress office is located.

TMC supporters had gathered in anticipation of the rally, and tensions quickly escalated when the ABVP protesters attempted to set fire to the effigy of Mamata Banerjee. This action sparked a heated exchange of slogans and led to a physical scuffle.

The police, along with CRPF personnel, were deployed to manage the situation and prevent further escalation. Despite their presence, a tussle broke out between the police and ABVP members during the attempt to burn the effigy. The situation was eventually brought under control after Cachar’s Additional Superintendent of Police, Subrata Sen, arrived with additional forces.
