1000 Bedded Hospital Building Planned for Silchar Medical College

A 1000 bedded hospital building is planned for Silchar Medical College. Construction will follow the completion of the 500 bed facility next year.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced plans for a new 1,000-bedded hospital building at Silchar Medical College. The construction of this facility is part of a larger effort to enhance healthcare services in the region.

The 1,000-bedded hospital will be built after the current 500-bed hospital, which is under construction, is completed. The 500 bed facility is expected to be finished by November next year.

To ensure the new hospital and existing facilities are well-coordinated, the government will implement a master plan for Silchar Medical College and Hospital. This plan aims to avoid random construction and optimize the layout for better healthcare delivery.

The current main building of the medical college and hospital will be demolished in the future as it is no longer feasible for repairs. This step is necessary to make way for new, modern facilities.

The new 1,000 bedded hospital is anticipated to take two to three years to complete. These projects underscore the Assam government’s commitment to expanding and upgrading healthcare infrastructure in Silchar.
