Court freed five miscreants of Bethukandi dyke cutting

The assistant sessions judge-2 of Cachar district on July 21 found that the police arrested the five on basis of mere suspicion and freed them on bail

Truth never hides. No matter how the politicians tried hard to divert the issue of monitory scam regarding the breaching of Betukandi dyke which caused the huge ever flood in Silchar Assam, ultimately the judiciary discloses their game.

Five miscreants who were arrested with the alligation of breaching the Bethukandi dyke issue get freed on bail as they are found not laible for the incident.

The assistant sessions judge-2 of Cachar district on July 21 says “None of the witnesses stated anything implicating the accused person in any manner. Accused (persons) have been arrested on mere suspicion. The court allows them to go on bail on condition that they will co-operate in the process investigation,” by a order issued.

The assistant session judge on perusal of the report submitted by Cachar police, found that the police arrested the five on basis of mere suspicion and freed them on bail with one codition of co-operation during the further investigation of the case.

Advocate Soumen Choudhary, who, along with Mehboob Hussain Mazumdar and a group of lawyers presented the bail petitions together, said that police arrested them without any proof and it was inspired by local political leaders. “During the argument, police failed to produce anything that can establish that these persons damaged the embankment. It feels like the officials were forced to arrest some people, and randomly selected a few individuals,” Choudhury said. Another lawyer involved in the case,Mazumdar said that some government departments complained about innocent individuals because they wanted to hide their failure.

As officials from the water resource department refused to comment on the matter, they also come under the suspicious radder of monitory scam.
Its all started on May 23, when the executive engineer of the water resource department, Silchar, lodged a complaint against some miscreants damaged the portion of road-cum-dyke at Bethukandi. The complaint also stated that the cutting of the debated Betukandi dyke is sole responsible for the flood in entire Silchar town.

Following this complaint, Cachar police under the survillience of SP Ramadeep Kaur arrested five said to be miscreants named Kabul Khan (35), Mithu Hussain Laskar (24), Nazir Hussian Laskar (43) and Ripon Khan (21) Raju Deb (26. All of them were booked under 427 of the Indian Penal Code and section 3 of the Prevention of Damages Public Property act, 1984, as per the records of Silchar police. The last accused among them who was arrested on July 13 is said to have in some invisible connection with the Ex MLA Dilip Kumar Paul. Here the BJP lead political leaders at Silchar also got a point to divert the issue once again by blaming Ex MLA of Silchar Dilip Paul unnecessarily behind the breaching of Betukandi dyke issue.

Public was very much clear about the negligence of politicians and administrative staffs in making reliable dykes at Bethukandi, Berenga, Bagadhor areas which are vulnerable points of river Barak. Residents of Barak Valley also sure about how the huge amount of 10 corers rupee was alloted for making of Bethukandi dyke but politicians along with contractors filled their pockets and left only few pennies for the actual work to be done. Though the foundation stone for this project was laid on the year of 2020 by the then MLA and MP Rajdeep Roy, the work actually remains a myth untill today. But awfully BJP leaders are only busy to find divertions after divertions to hide this huge monitory scandal. They tried their best to divert the issue in name of ‘Flood Jihad’ and all that to coverup the actaual monitory scam. But finally they could not as they have judiciary on top of them.
