Cachar Police Seize 40,000 Yaba Tablets, Arrest Trafficker

Cachar Police Achieves Major Drug Seizure with Arrest of Key Trafficker on National Highway

Cachar police achieved a major breakthrough, seizing 40,000 Yaba tablets and arresting a trafficker in a high-stakes operation on the 306 National Highway.

On Monday afternoon at 3:00 PM, a successful operation was carried out on the 306 National Highway at Islamabad. Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Superintendent Numal Mahatta, was stationed at the location. The team intercepted a Maruti Alto vehicle with registration number AS-11/X-5911, which was coming from the direction of Mizoram.

During a routine search, police discovered 40,000 Yaba tablets inside the vehicle. The driver, identified as 45-year-old Komrul Islam Majumdar, was immediately arrested. Majumdar, a resident of Rajghat Part II in South Dholai, has been charged under anti-drug laws, and an investigation has been initiated.

In a related development, on the previous day, police had also arrested Abdul Alim with 30,000 Yaba tablets in the Katakhal area. Alim was remanded for two days for further questioning.

Both suspects are currently being held at the Dholai Police Station, where they are undergoing interrogation. The ongoing efforts underscore the police’s commitment to combating drug trafficking in the region.
