Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika reviewed the river dyke repairs by the Katakhal river in Hailakandi on Friday, following recent flooding. This was his second visit to the Tasla area to inspect the repair work on the river dyke damaged on May 31.
The Water Resources Department has completed repairs at Siga parts using Jio mega bags. During his visit, Hazarika observed that the river dyke will be more secure after completing the work with Jio tubes. He instructed the chief engineer to use 25-meter-long Geo tubes for both sides of the Siga parts and to address sensitive areas carefully.
Hazarika also inspected the 50-meter-long river dyke by the Katakhal river in Waengkhaileikhei. He reviewed the repair work and directed the installation of Jio tubes in this area as well.
MLA Kaushik Rai, Vijay Malakar, Kamalakshya De Purkayastha, Zakir Hussain Laskar, and BJP leader Kanad Purkayastha were present during the inspection.
