Karimganj ABVP protested against the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh, holding a torch rally to demand security and urgent action from PM Modi.
In a show of solidarity with the persecuted Hindu community in Bangladesh, members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Karimganj organized a protest on Wednesday. The protest, marked by a torch rally in front of Karimganj College and Karimganj Mahavidyalaya, called for urgent measures to ensure the safety and security of Hindus in Bangladesh.
The demonstration came in response to the recent wave of violence that erupted in Bangladesh following the student-led quota movement. The situation escalated to such an extent that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reportedly fled the country. In the ensuing chaos, minority Hindus found themselves increasingly vulnerable, facing repeated attacks on their temples, places of worship, and businesses. The violence has led to significant damage and loss of life, deepening the fear and insecurity among the Hindu population.
ABVP members in Karimganj expressed their deep concern over these developments, demanding that the Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, take immediate action to protect Hindus in Bangladesh. During the protest, they submitted a memorandum to the Karimganj District Commissioner, emphasizing the need for strong diplomatic efforts to ensure the safety of minorities across the border.
The rally, which was intended to cover more of the city, was curtailed by police intervention, preventing the ABVP from conducting a full torch march. Despite these restrictions, the protest received significant support from local residents, who joined the ABVP members in condemning the violence in Bangladesh. The ABVP vowed to continue standing by the Hindu community in Bangladesh, stressing their commitment to advocating for the rights and security of all persecuted minorities.
