Minister Pijush Hazarika Inspects River Dyke Repairs in Karimganj

Minister Hazarika Evaluates Work on River Dyke Repairs and Directs Further Strengthening with Jio Tubes

Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika inspected river dyke repairs in Karimganj on Friday evening. He began his visit in the Ratabari constituency, where he reviewed a 20-meter section of the river dyke along the Singla river that had been swept away near a sluice gate. The Water Resources Department has taken emergency steps to repair this section, and Hazarika directed the installation of Jio Mega Bags for reinforcement.

Hazarika then moved to Patharkandi in South Karimganj constituency, where he inspected a 25-meter portion of the river dyke along the Langai river that had been damaged by erosion. During his second visit to this area, he instructed the departmental engineer to take emergency action and noted the installation of Jio tubes to further strengthen the dyke. He emphasized the need to complete the remaining repairs quickly.

His final stop was in South Bilbari, where he checked the river dyke along the Langai river. The department has used Jio Mega Bags to link two isolated parts of the dyke. Hazarika stressed the importance of using Jio Mega Bags on both sides to enhance the dyke’s strength and called for additional preventive measures.

MLA Kaushik Rai, Vijay Malakar, District BJP President Subrata Bhattacharya, and BJP leader Kanad Purkayastha were present during the visit.
