North Karimganj MLA Kamalaksh De Purkayastha faced an angry crowd during his visit to Katigara in Cachar district. The crowd’s wrath forced police security personnel to escort the MLA to his car amid chants of “Kamalaksh go back.”
This incident occurred while Kamalaksh De Purkayastha was accompanying Water Resources Minister Piyush Hazarika at the India-Bangladesh border. Present during the event were Cachar District Magistrate Rahan Kumar Jha, Lakhipur MLA Kaushik Rai, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, former Katigara MLA Amar Chand Jain, various departmental officials, and Sashkadal leaders.
The MLA and the Water Resources Minister were inspecting the condition of the sluice gate at the Boleshwar river when the crowd began their protest. At one point, the situation escalated to the point where Kamalaksh De Purkayastha was allegedly manhandled.
Kamalaksh De Purkayastha recently switched from the Congress party to the BJP and is actively working to establish his presence within his new political party.
