Cachar Police Arrest Manipur Resident with 10.351 Kg Ganja

Cachar Police arrested a Manipur resident with 10.351 kg of ganja and a vehicle coming from Jiribam at Hmarkhawlin, Lakhipur, on the Assam-Manipur border.

On Monday, Cachar police conducted a successful operation in the Hmarkhawlin area of Lakhipur, Assam. During a routine Naka check on the Assam-Manipur border, officers stopped a white DATSUN four-seater vehicle coming from Jiribam towards Lakhipur. The vehicle was registered in Cachar District.

Upon searching, police discovered 10.351 kg of ganja hidden in the trunk. The driver, Moirangthem Yaiskul Meitei, a resident of Thoubal district in Imphal East, Manipur, was arrested on the spot.

The personal vehicle used for smuggling was also seized. Cachar Police have registered an NDPS case against Meitei and are continuing their investigation. Numal Mahatta, the Superintendent of Police in Cachar district, emphasized the authorities’ commitment to combating drug trafficking in the region.
