Police seized 198 grams of heroin worth one crore from an auto rickshaw in Lakhipur. Abdul Sahid was arrested. Further investigation is ongoing.
In a recent operation, police intercepted an auto rickshaw with registration number AS11DC8510 at Hmarkhawlien, near Lakhipur Police Station. The vehicle, which was coming from Manipur, was thoroughly searched by authorities. They discovered 15 soap boxes filled with a substance suspected to be heroin. The total weight of the heroin was 198.01 grams. The drugs were promptly seized following standard procedures.
Abdul Sahid, a 32-year-old resident of Lalpani part-II in Jirighat, Cachar, was apprehended in connection with the seizure. Numal Mahatta, the Police Superintendent of Cachar, revealed that the heroin has an estimated black market value of around one crore. The investigation into the case is continuing.
