Minister Pijush Hazarika Inspects Flood-Hit Barak Valley

Minister Hazarika Urges Quick Repairs and Assures Government Support for Affected Residents

Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika inspected flood-hit areas in the Barak Valley on Friday. He arrived in Silchar early in the morning and visited the Ghagrapar Salchapra area under the Silchar Water Resources Division. After this, he inspected other flood-damaged areas across the valley.

The Barak Valley has faced severe floods in 2024, affecting Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi districts. These floods have damaged homes, roads, and many lives.

Minister Hazarika stressed the need for quick repairs to prevent further flooding and ensure safety. He checked the condition of river embankments and told officials to prioritize and finish repairs quickly.

In the afternoon, he reviewed the flood damage in Hailakandi and Karimganj districts. He met with affected residents, listened to their concerns, and promised government help for their recovery.

Minister Hazarika also held meetings with district officials and other departments. He emphasized the urgency of repairing breached embankments immediately.

The 2024 floods have been challenging for the Barak Valley, but Minister Hazarika’s visit brings hope. His commitment to repairs and assistance shows the government’s dedication to helping the valley recover.
