NIT Silchar is accused of becoming a safe haven for anti-India sentiment as Bangladeshi students allegedly post negative content about India.
A recent controversy has emerged at NIT Silchar, with allegations that the campus has become a safe haven for anti-India sentiment. These accusations have come to light after several Bangladeshi students were found posting negative content about India on social media. The issue has sparked outrage and calls for an investigation.
The controversy began when Sadat Hossain Alphi, a Bangladeshi former student of NIT Silchar, was accused of making anti-India posts on social media. This incident has led to a broader examination of the activities of other Bangladeshi students at the institute. Arjya Singh Roy, an NIT Durgapur alumnus, claimed that Alphi is not an isolated case and that many Bangladeshi students at NIT Silchar have engaged in similar behavior. Roy shared that when he confronted these students online, many either locked their accounts or deleted their profiles, suggesting a coordinated effort to avoid scrutiny.
Roy expressed frustration, stating, “It genuinely feels like NIT Silchar has turned their campus into a safe haven for the anti-India gang. This Bangladeshi guy isn’t the only one; most Bangladeshi students at NIT Silchar have made negative posts about India.” He further alleged that these students acted like a clique, quickly ganging up on anyone who challenged their views. He also mentioned similar experiences during his time at NIT Durgapur, where Bangladeshi students displayed anti-India sentiments once they left India.
In response to these claims, Roy has demanded a thorough investigation by Cachar Police, urging them to check the phones and laptops of all Bangladeshi students at NIT Silchar. He believes that this will reveal the full extent of anti-India activities. Roy also expressed distrust in the NIT authorities’ ability to handle the situation effectively, calling for a comprehensive crackdown on anyone involved in anti-India activities.
The situation has escalated with additional allegations against other students, including Shakha Hossain and Maisha Mahjabin, both of whom are associated with BTech NIT Silchar. Maisha Mahjabin, who is currently interning under NF Railway, is among those accused of posting anti-India content.
The accusations have stirred a significant response, with many demanding strict action against those responsible for spreading anti-India sentiment. The incident has also sparked discussions on the implications of providing scholarships and educational opportunities to foreign students who may harbor anti-India views.
As the investigation unfolds, there are calls for accountability and measures to ensure that educational institutions do not become platforms for promoting divisive ideologies. The broader community awaits a resolution, hoping for a thorough examination of the facts and appropriate actions to be taken.
