A serious incident has occurred at Assam University, where a student has accused an auto driver of attempted sexual assault. The driver has been detained by the police.
In the wake of the shocking rape and murder case of a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, a troubling incident has emerged from Assam University. A female student has accused an auto driver of attempting sexual assault.
On Monday, the incident took place in the Irongmara area. According to the students, she boarded an auto rickshaw at the main entrance of the university, heading towards home. She sat in the front seat with the driver. During the journey, the driver allegedly attempted to assault her by touching her inappropriately.
The student’s screams attracted the attention of other university students, who quickly gathered and detained the driver. The auto driver, identified as Badrujaman Faruk, was handed over to the police.
University students are demanding appropriate punishment for the accused driver.
