In Silchar, a human chain was formed to condemn the persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh and demand their protection. Protesters called for urgent action. On Friday, a significant human chain was formed in Silchar to protest against the ongoing persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh. Despite heavy rainfall, the demonstration began at 2:00 PM at the base of Khudiram Bose’s statue. The event, organized by various Barak Valley groups and “Barak’s Voice,” aimed to condemn the brutal attacks on Hindus and call for their protection.
Participants expressed outrage over the current sectarian violence in Bangladesh and the severe attacks on Hindus. They demanded urgent action to ensure the safety of Hindus, safeguard their temples, and protect Hindu women. During the protest, three memorandums were presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister, and the Bangladesh High Commissioner, highlighting the critical need for intervention.
The rally saw involvement from approximately 44 organizations across the Barak Valley, with strong support from monks of the Bharat Sevashram Sangh and ISKCON temples. Key figures at the event included lawyers Dharmananda Dev, Subhransu Shekhar Bhattacharya, and others who joined in the call for action.
The organizers announced that another symbolic protest will be held next Tuesday at 12:00 PM at the same location, as stated by Somitra Dutta Ray of Barak’s Voice. This ongoing advocacy highlights the region’s commitment to standing against religious persecution and ensuring the safety of affected communities.
