Sonai Police Seizes 46.35 Grams of Heroin in NH306 Interception; Two Peddlers Apprehended

29-year-old Nihar Begum, a resident of Meghalaya, and a local peddler nabbed in NH306 heroin seizure

In a covert operation, Sonai Police intercepted a Maruti Alto car and an Auto at the Kajidahar Point on the Silchar-Aizwal road (NH306). The vehicles, bearing Registration Nos. AS-10/A-1227 and AS-11/DC-3895 respectively, were found to be transporting 4 soap cases containing a staggering 46.35 grams of heroin.

The alleged peddlers, identified as 29-year-old Nihar Begum, daughter of late Chamchul Haque, residing in Amtola village, Byrnihat, Ri Bhoi district, Meghalaya, and 37-year-old Prasanna Kumar Das, son of Pradip Kumar Das, from Jhumbasti, Badarpur police station, Karimganj district, Assam, were apprehended during the interception.

Authorities have confirmed that further investigation into the matter is underway. The police are actively pursuing leads to uncover more details surrounding this alarming drug-related incident.
