Women in Assam’s tea garden protested for justice in Dr. Moumita Debnath’s Kolkata murder case, demanding swift arrest and punishment of culprits.
A protest meeting was held yesterday in Assam demanding justice for the murder of Dr. Moumita Debnath at RG College of Medical Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal.
The protest was organized by Doloo Veerangana CLF, a women’s self-help group from Barak Valley’s Barkhola constituency. Women from Doloo Gaon Panchayat, Hattichara Panchayat, and Shubhong Panchayat lit candles and marched from the Doloo Veerangana CLF office to Doloo Tea Garden, chanting slogans against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The protestors demanded that the culprits involved in Dr. Debnath’s murder be arrested and brought to justice. They appealed to the President of India, the Prime Minister, and the Chief Minister of Assam to take immediate action against the offenders.
The women also called for the safety of all women and warned that if their safety is not ensured, they will take to the streets. Key participants in the protest included Veerangana CLF President Meera Roy, Secretary Anima Santal, Anita Rajbongshi, Saraswati Dasgupta, and many others.
