The prohibition on all motorized traffic is effective from 6:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025, to 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2025. This swift action, requested by the NHIDCL (National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd.), is intended solely to protect the bridge’s integrity and ensure public safety. Pedestrian movement will remain unaffected.

- Status: The bridge is Completely Prohibited for all motorized vehicles. Pedestrians are permitted to cross.
- Closure Period: The restriction is in effect from 6:00 PM on Friday, December 12, 2025, until 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
🛣️ Primary Diversion Route
- Route: Vehicles must utilize the Kalain-Khambarbazar-Bihara-Baburbazar-Borkhola (NH-27) route.
- Vehicles Permitted: This route is advised for All vehicles, subject to the axle load restrictions mandated by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways.
🚗 Alternate Route
- Route: The Silchar-Kalain Road (SH-38) is available as a secondary option.
- Vehicles Permitted: This route is restricted to Light Motor Vehicles (LMV), passenger vehicles, and goods vehicles weighing below 15 MT.

The administration has deployed significant resources to manage the temporary closure and ensure public safety during the repair window:
- SDRF Teams: Stationed at Siddeshwar and Latimara Ghats for emergency response.
- Police Deployment: Personnel under the Superintendent of Police, Cachar, will manage law and order and traffic flow at key junctions, including Kargil Point, Khambar Bazar Point, Baburbazar, and Bhangarpar.
- DDMA Oversight: The Circle Officer, Katigorah Revenue Circle, will oversee operations at the temporary ghats, supported by CQRT members and Aapda Mitra volunteers.
The Addl. District Commissioner & CEO of DDMA, Cachar, Roktim Baruah, ACS, confirmed that the directive is purely in the interest of public safety and efficient transport management and will remain in force until further notice.
