Northeast Update is a digital news publication of Knight Entertainment, based in Silchar, Assam.
Established in 2014, Northeast Update focuses primarily on Assam and Northeast India, with particular attention to Silchar, Cachar, the Barak Valley and developments affecting communities across the region.

Who founded Northeast Update?
Northeast Update was founded in 2014 by Anupam Mandal, Founder and Editor-in-Chief.
Anupam Mandal is a television producer, broadcast journalist and media professional with more than two decades of experience in journalism and television production. He holds a Master of Mass Communication degree from Assam University.
Who owns or operates Northeast Update?
Northeast Update is a digital news publication of Knight Entertainment.
Knight Entertainment provides the organisational and operational foundation for the publication, while editorial decisions—including story selection, reporting, verification and publication—are handled by the editorial team.
2. Our Journalism
What type of journalism does Northeast Update publish?
We publish original and locally relevant news reports, explanatory articles, interviews, fact-checks, analysis and other journalism covering issues of public interest.
Our objective is to provide readers with accurate information, useful context and reporting that is relevant to the communities we serve.
How does Northeast Update verify information?

Is Northeast Update editorially independent?
Northeast Update maintains a clear separation between editorial decision-making and commercial interests.
Advertising, sponsorships and other commercial activities support the operation of the publication but do not determine our news coverage, reporting decisions or editorial conclusions.
