Campaign & Victory Narrative
The election campaign saw intense competition for several key positions, with candidates focusing heavily on issues of student welfare, campus infrastructure development, and better services. Despite the competitive environment, a high voter turnout was recorded across the campus.
Reacting to the landslide victory, President-elect Rajkinkar Chakrabarty emphasized the ideological underpinnings of the win. “ABVP’s resounding victory in the Assam University polls is a testimony that Gen Z stands firmly against anti-national forces and for the holistic development of the university,” he stated.
General Secretary-elect Kaushik Dasgupta, who secured the highest number of votes (1,628) among all candidates, credited the student body for reposing their faith in the organization’s commitment to sincere service and inclusivity.
Focus on the Future
The newly elected AUSU panel is set to assume charge soon, with their agenda expected to focus heavily on translating their campaign promises into action. Their immediate priorities will include:
- Holistic Development: Working towards improving academic and extracurricular facilities.
- Student Welfare: Addressing issues related to hostel facilities, transport, and overall student amenities.
- Campus Politics: Solidifying the ABVP’s dominance and its stated goal of bringing a stable and constructive political environment to the campus.
University officials confirmed that the entire election process was executed smoothly and peacefully, in line with established guidelines, ensuring a democratic exercise for the student community.
