Railway officials found ganja on train No. 13174 Sabroom–Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express during a routine check at Lumding Railway Station on July 1, 2025. The joint team of the Crime Investigation Branch (CIB) Lumding and staff of Government Railway Police Station (GRPS) Lumding conducted the search under the guidance of IPF/CIB/Lumding and OC/GRPS/Lumding.

Officials targeted the train to detect contraband and catch anti-social elements. During inspection, they arrested one person, identified as 54-year-old Pramod Kumar, son of Late Ram Nath, a resident of Bharthana, Uttar Pradesh. He was found with a maroon backpack in Coach No. B-3, Seat 60. Authorities recovered three packets of suspected ganja from the bag.

Officers immediately weighed the substance, confirming it to be 7.68 kilograms. The estimated market value of the seized ganja is ₹76,800. Police promptly brought the accused and seized items to the GRPS Lumding station.

The GRPS registered a case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The case, numbered 26/2025, falls under section 20(b)(ii)(B), and is dated July 1, 2025. Investigators have started further proceedings.
