Protests Erupt at Assam University Over Misconduct Allegations

Date:

Students protest at Assam University after misconduct allegations against professor Ajit Kumar Jena. Authorities promise swift investigation and action.

Tensions flared at Assam University on Sunday night as students gathered in large numbers outside the main entrance, chanting slogans and holding placards demanding justice. The protest erupted following allegations of misconduct against Assistant Professor Ajit Kumar Jena from the Social Work Department.

Witnesses described an atmosphere of urgency as students rallied together, expressing outrage and frustration. As the voices of protest grew louder, local residents took notice, with some joining the demonstration in solidarity. Students insisted that authorities take immediate action, warning that failure to do so would lead to an even larger movement in the coming days.

University Registrar Pradosh Kiran Nath assured that the Vice-Chancellor had already initiated an internal inquiry. “The investigation is underway, and the findings will be submitted soon,” he stated. However, student leaders remain skeptical, insisting that justice be swift and transparent.

The protest continued late into the night, with groups of students discussing future steps. Some called for stronger policies against such incidents, while others emphasized the need for institutional accountability. As Assam University grapples with the growing unrest, all eyes are on the administration to see how it responds to the demands of its students.
