The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak, Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, arrived in Guwahati on Monday, November 17, for a two-day visit, marking a critical phase of the organization’s nationwide centenary celebrations. The visit underscores the RSS’s intensifying focus on cultural consolidation, youth engagement, and strategic expansion across the Northeast region.
Dr. Bhagwat landed at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and headed directly to Sudarshanalaya at Barbari, the RSS state headquarters, where a series of high-level, closed-door meetings are scheduled.
🎯 Key Agenda: Centenary Review and Strategic Planning
The primary objective of the Sarsanghchalak’s visit is to review the progress of various centenary-linked activities in Assam as the RSS commemorates its 100th year (1925-2025). The itinerary focuses heavily on internal deliberation and outreach:
- Organisational Review: Dr. Bhagwat is engaging with senior RSS Pracharaks and state-level leadership to discuss ongoing initiatives and formulate future strategies for organisational expansion in the Northeast.
- ‘Pabudha Nagarik Sanmilan’: Today, Tuesday, November 18, Dr. Bhagwat is scheduled to address a Citizens’ Meet, engaging with prominent intellectuals, editors, scholars, and industrialists from Guwahati.
- ‘Yuva Sanmilan’: Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 19, he will address a Youth Meet at Sudarshanalaya, interacting with young writers, poets, and entrepreneurs on various topics relevant to the current national scenario.
The visit is seen by political observers as part of the RSS’s effort to deepen its ideological footprint and connect with a wider cross-section of society in the region.
Northeast Focus: Second Visit in Centenary Year
This marks Dr. Bhagwat’s second visit to Assam this year, underscoring the state’s strategic importance to the Sangh.
His earlier five-day tour in February 2025 included an in-depth organizational review, an address to the Rashtra Sevika Samiti at IIT Guwahati, and an intellectual Bouddhik session that saw the participation of thousands of karyakartas (volunteers).
After concluding his engagements in Assam, Dr. Bhagwat will travel to Manipur on Thursday, November 20, to continue the centenary Prabas (tour) across the region. The visits are part of the larger strategic calendar aimed at strengthening the organization’s backbone in the border states.
