Unity Triumphs in Cachar: Massive Turnout for Badarpur March as MP Suklabaidya Hails Sardar Patel

Cachar district witnessed a monumental display of national solidarity as the 3rd Unity March drew over 1,400 participants in Badarpur Town on Sunday. The event, organized by the District Administration in collaboration with MY Bharat, successfully galvanized youth clubs, students, and citizens in a vibrant demonstration of patriotism and harmony.

The “Padayatra” (march) commenced from the historic Badarpur Fort and concluded at the Railway Institute, solidifying its place as one of the Barak Valley region’s most significant public gatherings in recent times.

🎙️ The Iron Backbone of India: MP Parimal Suklabaidya’s Tribute
The highlight of the grand assembly was the powerful keynote address delivered by Chief Guest, Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya. He paid a deeply insightful and elaborate tribute to the ‘Iron Man of India,’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, emphasizing the timeless relevance of his legacy.

“Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the iron backbone of India’s political unity,” stated MP Suklabaidya, reflecting on Patel’s unparalleled achievement in integrating 562 princely states into the new Indian republic—a feat he called one of the most extraordinary administrative successes in world history.

The MP spoke at length about Patel’s courage, foresight, and ‘nation-first’ thinking, urging the youth of Cachar to adopt these values to shape the nation’s destiny. He stressed that “Today’s united and sovereign India stands as a living testament to Sardar Patel’s courage and farsighted vision.”

🤝 A Festival of Harmony and Civic Pride
The Unity March successfully transcended community lines, embodying the spirit of Sardar Patel’s unifying mission.

  • Massive Participation: Over 1,400 citizens from Badarpur, Kalain, and Katigorah, along with members from 29 youth clubs, NGOs, SHGs, and educational institutions, joined the procession.
  • Cultural Showcase: The programme culminated in a colourful cultural presentation that celebrated the region’s diversity, featuring traditional folk dances, Manipuri dance, Khasia dance, and the popular Bengali Dhamail, reinforcing the message of ‘unity in diversity.’
  • Dignitaries: The event was attended by MY Bharat Deputy Director Mehbub Alam Laskar, Badarpur Municipality Chairperson Rubi Nag, Circle Officers Dr. Robert Tulor (ACS) and Joykristina, alongside other political and community leaders.

In his welcome address, MY Bharat Deputy Director Mehbub Alam Laskar lauded the youth for transforming the march into a symbolic demonstration of national solidarity and community-driven initiatives.

The collective efforts of the District Administration, government departments, and community groups ensured the smooth and resounding success of the event, reinforcing Cachar’s commitment to national integration and civic responsibility.
