Borkhola, Cachar | In a significant move to preserve the tribal heritage of Barak Valley, Minister Kaushik Rai today laid the foundation stone for the Seng Khasi Sein Raij Development Society Cultural Complex at Damchera, Srikona. The project, sanctioned under the Untied Fund 2025–26, is envisioned as a central hub for the preservation and promotion of the rich traditions of the Khasi community.
Preserving Khasi Heritage
Addressing the gathering, Minister Rai stated that the cultural complex would serve as a vital platform for celebrating the distinct customs, language, and social fabric of the Khasi people residing in the region.
“Our government, under the leadership of CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, is committed to the holistic development of all ethnic communities. This complex is not just a building; it is a testament to our respect for the Khasi community’s contribution to the cultural mosaic of Barak Valley,” the Minister remarked.

The construction of this cultural complex follows a string of recent developmental projects in the Srikona and Lakhipur areas. The use of the Untied Fund 2025–26 highlights the government’s strategy to address local community needs that fall outside traditional departmental schemes.
