Guwahati, Assam: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Assam on December 29 to officially inaugurate the state-of-the-art Jyoti Bishnu Auditorium and the new Guwahati Police Commissionerate building at Khanapara. Ahead of the high-profile event, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted a site inspection to review final preparations and ensure the projects are ready for the public.

Jyoti Bishnu Auditorium: A New Cultural Landmark
The Jyoti Bishnu Auditorium, with a seating capacity of 5,000, is poised to become the largest cultural venue in Eastern India. Designed to host national and international events, the complex features modern acoustics, VIP suites, a dedicated food court, and extensive multipurpose parking.
Named after legendary cultural icons Jyoti Prasad Agarwala and Bishnu Rabha, the facility is expected to transform Guwahati into a premier destination for large-scale social and official programs.
Smart Security: New Police Commissionerate Building
In a major boost to urban safety, the Home Minister will also unveil the newly constructed eight-storey Guwahati Police Commissionerate. A standout feature of this project is the Intelligent City Surveillance System (ICSS) control room.
Located on the fourth floor, this command center will monitor a city-wide CCTV network in real-time. This facility, built under the Guwahati Smart City initiative, aims to strengthen law enforcement and public safety across the metropolitan area.

During his visit to the sites, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed satisfaction with the progress. He highlighted that these two projects represent a significant shift in Guwahati’s urban landscape, blending cultural growth with high-tech security infrastructure.
