Katigorah, Assam: Residents of Kalain Brahmin Gram narrowly escaped a devastating fire tragedy on Saturday morning thanks to the swift response of locals and the fire service.
The fire broke out around 10:00 AM in the kitchen of Joynarayan Das’s house, reportedly caused by a gas cylinder leakage.
Quick Response Saves Surrounding Homes
A combination of favorable circumstances and timely action prevented the fire from escalating into a major disaster:
- Proximity to Water: The house was situated close to a pond, which locals immediately used to help contain the initial spread.
- Fire Service Intervention: Fire engines arrived promptly after being alerted, further assisting in bringing the situation under control.
The fire was successfully confined to the kitchen area, ensuring that the fire did not spread to the main residential structure of Joynarayan Das or the surrounding houses in the densely populated area.
The incident resulted in the complete damage of the kitchen and the burning of several trees in the immediate vicinity. Fortunately, no casualties or major loss of property beyond the kitchen structure were reported.
