2026 Polls: Minister Kaushik Rai Launches BJP Wall Painting Drive

Date:

Lakhipur, Cachar | Stepping up the momentum for the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, Minister Kaushik Rai officially launched the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) statewide wall painting campaign in his home constituency of Lakhipur, Cachar district, on Monday.

The local drive follows the high-profile launch in Guwahati by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and State BJP President Dilip Saikia. The campaign is designed to be the party’s first major visual outreach, aimed at saturating the state with the “Lotus” symbol and key developmental slogans.

Lakhipur Joins the Statewide Push
Minister Kaushik Rai, who holds the portfolios for Food, Public Distribution & Consumer Affairs, and Barak Valley Development, personally participated in the program by painting the party’s symbol on walls across Lakhipur.

Taking to social media to mark the occasion, the Minister highlighted that the campaign is being executed under the direct instructions of BJP Assam Pradesh.

“As per the directions of BJP Assam Pradesh for the upcoming 2026 Assembly elections, the statewide wall painting campaign has commenced today. In line with this, I participated in painting our party symbol ‘Lotus’ on various walls in the Lakhipur constituency. Assam’s security is the BJP’s pledge,” Minister Rai stated.

  • Central Themes: Security and Development
The campaign in Cachar district mirrors the state-level themes established by CM Sarma and President Dilip Saikia. The messaging focuses heavily on:
  • Assam’s Security: Presenting the BJP as the sole protector of the state’s borders and internal stability.
  • Cultural Safeguards: Protecting the identity and civilization of the indigenous people.
  • Economic Growth: Highlighting the “double-engine” government’s success in infrastructure and welfare.

Battle-Ready for 2026
While launching the state-level campaign at Khanapara, CM Sarma asserted that the BJP is already “battle-ready” and could finalize 50% of its candidates immediately if needed. Meanwhile, State President Dilip Saikia is leading negotiations with alliance partners like the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) to streamline seat-sharing by mid-February.

The early start in constituencies like Lakhipur signals the BJP’s strategy to consolidate its base in the Barak Valley well before the official election notification.
