Lumding, Assam: A dramatic and chaotic scene unfolded at the Lumding Police Station compound earlier today when a young man attempted to escape custody while being processed by the police.
The youth, identified as Biju Choudhury, is reportedly a drug addict who had been detained by the police. Authorities were preparing to transfer him to a designated Rehabilitation Centre for de-addiction and treatment.
The Escape Attempt and Recapture
Biju Choudhury seized an opportunity to give police the slip, making a sudden dash out of the police station premises. He managed to run approximately 100 meters outside the station compound before police personnel, reacting quickly, pursued him.
Following a brief chase, the police successfully cornered and apprehended Biju Choudhury. He was brought back into the station compound without further incident.
Following the brief period of high tension, the police completed the necessary formalities. The young drug addict was subsequently transported to the Rehabilitation Centre as originally planned.
The incident underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement while dealing with individuals struggling with severe drug addiction.
