Sribhumi, Assam | In a major push toward rural women empowerment, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma will visit the Sribhumi district (formerly Karimganj) on January 13, 2026. The visit is primarily aimed at the ceremonial distribution of entrepreneurship fund cheques under the flagship Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA).
Empowering 14,000 Women Entrepreneurs
During the event, which is scheduled to take place in the North Karimganj assembly constituency, the Chief Minister will provide financial assistance to over 14,000 women. Each beneficiary will receive an initial seed fund to kickstart their own business ventures, moving them closer to the government’s vision of creating “Lakhpati Baideos” (millionaire sisters) in rural Assam.
