Drugs, Burmese cigarettes, and Chinese mosquito coils worth ₹5 crore were seized in Silchar from a Manipur bus; three traffickers arrested. The illegal goods were being smuggled in a passenger bus with registration number MN-01-AA-0484.

The bus started its journey from Churachandpur in Manipur and entered Cachar district through Mizoram. Based on a secret tip-off received three days earlier, Cachar Police had alerted the Lailapur Police near the Assam-Mizoram border.

On Friday, when the identified bus crossed the Lailapur check gate and headed toward Silchar, police intercepted it near the ISBT bypass. A thorough search led to the recovery of over 3 kg of morphine, Burmese cigarettes, and Chinese mosquito coils.

Cachar Superintendent of Police stated that the total value of seized items is around ₹5 crore. The three traffickers arrested have been booked under the NDPS Act.
