Flooding on the Katakhal-Silchar route has submerged railway lines, severely impacting train services. Ten express and passenger trains are affected, with cancellations and schedule changes in effect.
Train Operations Hit by Submerged Tracks
The widespread flooding on the Katakhal-Silchar rail route has caused major disruptions. As a result, two train services between Silchar and Katakhal have been cancelled, and six train services between Silchar and Badarpur are also suspended.
Specifically, the 55668 Bhairabi-Silchar Passenger train, which was en route from Mizoram to Silchar, has been cancelled at Katakhal station. Conversely, the 55667 Silchar-Bhairabi Passenger train will now depart from Katakhal instead of Silchar for its journey to Mizoram.
The 12097 Agartala-Arunachal Express, travelling from Agartala, has been cancelled at Badarpur Railway Junction. Similarly, the 12098 Arunachal-Agartala Express will now commence its journey from Badarpur Railway Junction instead of Arunachal.
The 15615 Guwahati-Silchar Express, heading from Guwahati to Silchar, has been cancelled at Badarpur Railway Junction. Its counterpart, the 15616 Silchar-Guwahati Express, will now depart from Badarpur Railway Junction instead of Silchar for Guwahati.
Furthermore, the 15611 Rangiya-Silchar Express, travelling from Rangiya to Silchar, has been cancelled at Badarpur Railway Junction. The 05637 Naharlagun-Silchar Express, coming from Arunachal Pradesh to Silchar, has also been cancelled at Badarpur Railway Junction.
Revised Schedules and More Cancellations
Some train schedules have also been adjusted. The 13176 Silchar-Sealdah Express, originally slated for June 4th at 11:35 AM, will now depart at 4:30 AM. The 156-16 Silchar-Guwahati Express was expected to depart from Badarpur on June 4th at 12:30 PM, instead of its original 8:10 AM schedule.
In a directive issued by the Lumding Division of Northeast Frontier Railway at 12:27 PM on June 4th, an additional six trains scheduled for June 4th and 5th have been cancelled.
The cancelled trains include two on the Badarpur-Dullabcherra route, two on the Silchar-Dullabcherra route, and two on the Agartala-Dharmanagar route.
