The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Cachar District Committee and the District Youth Council jointly observed National Self-Respect Day (Jatiya Swabhiman Divas) alongside the 53rd birthday of Assam’s cultural icon, Zubeen Garg. The day was marked by a series of socially relevant and cultural programs.
Day-Long Schedule of Events
The comprehensive day-long program included:
- Tribute Ceremony: Offering floral tributes to the portrait of Zubeen Garg.
- Social Service: An organized Blood Donation Camp.
- Green Initiative: A Tree Plantation drive.
- Recognition: A special Felicitation Ceremony.
- Cultural Evening: The day concluded with a vibrant Musical Program.
Leaders Praise Zubeen Garg’s Contribution
Leaders of the AGP and its youth wing highlighted Zubeen Garg’s immense contributions to the state:
- Nazmul Hussain Majumdar, District President: Described Zubeen Garg as the “Pride and Struggling Talent of Assam.”
- Rupen Modak, Youth Council President: Called for Zubeen Garg’s birthday to be celebrated regularly and consistently every year.
- Soumyadeep Bhattacharjee (Dipan), Silchar Assembly Council President: Praised the artist, calling him a “Shining example of humanitarian service.”
The entire event was successfully managed by District General Secretary Sujit Sharma.
