BJYM Burns Yunus Effigy Over Dipu Das Murder in Bangladesh

Date:

Silchar, Assam: The streets of Silchar turned into a hub of protest on Saturday as the Bharatiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha (BJYM) organized a massive rally to condemn the horrific lynching and burning of Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh, Bangladesh.

From Cachar BJP Office to Khudiram Bose Statue
The protest march commenced from the Cachar District BJP Office in Itkhola. Hundreds of activists, carrying black flags and shouting slogans against the ongoing violence in the neighboring country, marched through the heart of the city.

The rally reached its peak at the Shahid Khudiram Bose Statue, where a large crowd gathered for a demonstration. In a symbolic act of rage and protest, the members of the Yuva Morcha burnt the effigy of Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of the Bangladesh interim government.

Demands for Minority Safety
The protesters expressed grave concern over the “barbaric” nature of the killing, where the victim was not only lynched but his body was publicly set on fire. Speaking at the venue, BJYM leaders stated:

  • Government Failure: They held the Yunus-led administration responsible for the total collapse of law and order.
  • Diplomatic Pressure: They urged the Indian government to intervene and ensure the safety of the minority Hindu community in Bangladesh.

Background of the Outrage
The protest follows the December 18 incident in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, where 27-year-old worker Dipu Chandra Das was killed by a mob over alleged “blasphemy”—a charge his family strongly refutes. The viral videos of his body being tied to a tree and set ablaze have sparked a massive wave of indignation across Northeast India.
