Cachar Bids Emotional Farewell to DC Mridul Yadav, IAS

Date:

Silchar, Cachar | The District Administration of Cachar on Saturday hosted a dignified farewell for outgoing District Commissioner Mridul Yadav, IAS, following his transfer to Sivasagar district. The ceremony, held at the new Conference Hall of the DC Office, served as a tribute to a tenure defined by vision, resolve, and inclusive governance.

A Legacy of Purpose-Driven Governance
Since assuming charge on September 20, 2024, Mridul Yadav has been widely recognized for his quiet resolve and ability to bridge the gap between policy and public trust. Under his leadership, Cachar made a significant leap in Assam’s district rankings—climbing from 23rd to 9th position by early 2025.

Reflecting on his time in the district, the outgoing DC described Cachar as a place of both professional challenge and deep personal fulfillment. “Effective administration is built on trust, teamwork, and sensitivity to public concerns,” he stated, attributing the district’s progress to the coordinated efforts of all departments.

Key Highlights of Mridul Yadav’s Tenure
During the farewell, officers and staff recalled several milestones under his stewardship:

  • District Ranking: Steering Cachar into the Top 10 districts in Assam for performance.
  • Women Empowerment: Launching major awareness drives for Mission Shakti and Sankalp.
  • Infrastructure Monitoring: Swift action on crucial projects, including the inspection and early restoration of the collapsed Harang Bridge.
  • Agrarian Push: Implementing farmer-centric paddy procurement strategies to bolster the rural economy.

Administrative Praise and Future Assignment
District Development Commissioner Rajib Roy, ACS, along with Co-District Commissioners Dhrubajyoti Pathak (Lakhipur) and Roktim Baruah (Dholai), lauded Yadav’s calm decision-making and emphasis on innovation. Representatives from the Employees’ Association described him as an approachable leader who valued institutional harmony.

As part of the recent state-wide administrative reshuffle, Aayush Garg, IAS, will succeed Mridul Yadav as the new District Commissioner of Cachar, while Yadav takes over the reins in Sivasagar.
