Cachar Draft Voter List 2025: District Sees Surge in Female Voters and New Polling Stations

Silchar, Assam: The District Commissioner of Cachar, Mridul Yadav, officially released the draft electoral roll for the district’s seven assembly constituencies today. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the District Commissioner’s office.

According to the new draft, the total number of eligible voters across the seven constituencies stands at 1,415,439. This represents an increase of 21,957 voters compared to the previous electoral cycle.

Who are the voters in Cachar District?
The latest data reveals a notable gender distribution in the district’s electorate. Of the total 1.41 million voters, 713,533 are women, while 701,888 are men.

Silchar remains the most populous constituency in the district. It currently holds the highest number of voters, totaling 222,351 individuals.

When is the deadline for voter list corrections?
Residents who wish to raise objections or request corrections to the draft list have until January 22, 2026. This window allows citizens to ensure their details are accurate before the roll is finalized.

District Commissioner Mridul Yadav confirmed that the administration will publish the final voter list on February 10, 2026, following the verification of all claims and objections.

How has the polling infrastructure changed?
To manage the increase in the voting population, the administration has expanded the number of polling centers. The district now hosts 1,732 centers, up from the previous count of 1,551.

Additionally, the administration provided updates on “D-Voters” (Doubtful Voters) within the district. Currently, there are 3,304 individuals categorized under this status in Cachar.
