Silchar, Assam: In a major boost to the infrastructure development of the Barak Valley, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today, December 7, 2025, laid the foundation stone for the ambitious Madhura Ghat Bridge project in Silchar.
The event, which fulfills a long-standing aspiration of the local populace, was held at Gandhighat and marked the official commencement of construction for the critical connector over the Barak River.

The new structure is officially titled the RCC Bridge Over the Barak River and is being constructed under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).
