SILCHAR: In what is being hailed as a landmark event, the Masimpur Military Station witnessed an unprecedented and historic surge of youth participation for the Territorial Army Recruitment Rally. Thousands of aspirants from across the Barak Valley regions, including Cachar, Hailakandi, and Sribhumi, gathered for the rally organized by the 119 Infantry Battalion (TA) ASSAM under the Territorial Army (Eastern Command).
The overwhelming turnout transformed the sprawling grounds into a sea of determined young faces, marking this as one of the most successful recruitment drives in the region’s history and a powerful symbol of the valley’s rising patriotism.
Dreams of Dual Service Draw Massive Crowd
Candidates began lining up long before the scheduled 5:00 AM reporting time, driven by the unique opportunity to serve the nation as a Soldier (General Duty) and Tradesmen while maintaining their civilian professions.
“I have been preparing for this day for months. To serve the country while maintaining a civilian life is the best opportunity for me,” stated Shamal Das, a Silchar-based graduate, reflecting the sentiments of thousands who completed the stringent 1.6 km run and other Physical Fitness Tests (PFT).
Seamless Execution and Strict Meritocracy
Despite the massive footfall, the rally was executed with military precision and transparency. The Army ensured a smooth, multi-stage screening process. Candidates underwent meticulous documentation checks for domicile and eligibility certificates before proceeding to the PFT stations.
The efficient layout, featuring multiple tracks for running, pull-ups, and balance activities, helped drastically reduce waiting times. A senior officer of the 119 Infantry Battalion (TA) ASSAM lauded the successful conduct, stating, “The seamless conduct of a rally of this scale… is a tribute to the team effort of our personnel and the admirable discipline shown by the youth of the Barak Valley.”
The success was further bolstered by outstanding Civil-Military Coordination, with the Cachar District Administration providing full support ranging from infrastructure readiness to medical assistance, which significantly boosted public trust in the selection process.
