Silchar 2026: MLA Dipayan Chakraborty Scales 40ft for BJP Campaign

Date:

Silchar, Assam | In a dramatic display of political vigor, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty took the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) statewide wall painting campaign to literal new heights on Monday. Marking the official countdown to the 2026 Assam Assembly Elections, the legislator personally scaled a 40-foot height at a major city landmark to kickstart the party’s outreach program in the Cachar district.

High-Altitude Campaigning at Annapurna Point
The campaign launch in Silchar witnessed an unusual sight at the busy Annapurna Cinema Hall point. To ensure the party’s ‘Lotus’ symbol was visible across the city skyline, MLA Dipayan Chakraborty climbed a ladder to a height of approximately 40 feet.

Balanced at the top, the MLA used a brush and paint to personally draw the party symbol, a move that local supporters described as a testament to his “ground-level commitment and high-reaching vision” for the constituency.

“This is not just a painting; it is our commitment to the people of Silchar written on the walls of the city,” Chakraborty told reporters. “Scaling this height today symbolizes the heights we want Silchar’s development to reach in the coming term.”

Strategic Outreach Across Cachar
Following the high-altitude launch at Annapurna Cinema Hall Point, the MLA led the campaign through the heart of Silchar, focusing on key commercial and grassroots hubs:

  • Rangirkhari Point: A major commercial junction where Chakraborty interacted with the public and highlighted the progress of the upcoming Silchar Flyover.
  • Balighat Point: Here, he met with grassroots workers to emphasize the “Mera Booth Sabse Majboot” (My Booth, Strongest) strategy.

2026 Election Bugle: BJP’s Statewide Push
The event in Silchar coincides with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and State President Dilip Saikia’s statewide launch of the wall painting drive in Guwahati earlier this morning. The BJP has set an ambitious target of winning over 100 seats in the 126-member assembly.

Speaking in Guwahati, CM Sarma stated that the BJP is prepared to release its first list of candidates for nearly 50 seats if the central leadership permits, signaling the party’s advanced state of readiness.
