Sonai, Assam – A devastating fire late Wednesday night completely gutted a residential house in Ward No. 8, Rangirghat, Sonai, reducing the property and household goods to ashes. Fortunately, the house owner and his family were not present at the time of the incident, preventing any loss of life.
The affected house belongs to Sams Uddin Laskar. He and his family members were away when the fire broke out. Upon receiving the news of the massive blaze, Mr. Laskar rushed back to the scene.
The fire’s intensity was so severe that the house was instantly consumed, and the devastation was compounded by a gas cylinder explosion inside the house.
Cause of Fire Under Investigation
The incident has raised immediate questions regarding the origin of the blaze, as the house owner confirmed that there was no electrical connection active in the home when the fire started. The exact cause remains unknown and is under investigation.
The fire incident was quickly reported, and the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonai Police Station, Robin Tumung, promptly arrived at the scene with the fire brigade team and his personnel. Their swift action helped ensure the fire did not spread to neighbouring structures.
Significant Financial Loss
The house owner, Sams Uddin Laskar, along with his father, Niyam Uddin Laskar, briefed reporters on the extent of the damage.
Mr. Laskar estimated that the value of the household goods and property destroyed in the fire amounts to over ₹5,00,000 (Five Lakh Rupees).
Local Ward Commissioner Nebu Islam Laskar was also present at the site to assess the damage and provide assurance to the affected family.
Authorities are expected to conduct a full investigation to determine the source of the devastating fire and provide necessary support to the family.
