A stabbing during Ramadan in Cachar, Assam, linked to a Milad Mehfil dispute, leaves a youth critically injured. Police arrest the main accused.
A violent incident during Ramadan has left the Cachar district of Assam in shock. The stabbing, which occurred on Thursday night at Hatikhala Bazar under Sonai police station, was reportedly an act of revenge over a previous dispute during a Milad Mehfil event.
The victim, 16-year-old Ruhul Amin Barbhuiya, was critically injured after being attacked by Romen Akhtar Laskar. The suspect fled the scene with his accomplices, leaving the youth bleeding on the ground. Police arrived promptly, but delays in ambulance services led locals to step in and rush the victim to Silchar Medical College, where he remains in critical condition.
The attack stemmed from tensions during a Milad Mehfil’s sweet distribution earlier in the month. Based on a complaint filed at Kachudaram Police Station, three individuals—Romen Akhtar Laskar, Kabul Hossain, and Sebul Hossain—have been named in the case. Police have arrested the main accused, Romen Akhtar Laskar, and investigations are ongoing.
The incident has sparked widespread concern within the community and raised questions about safety during public gatherings.
