Preparations are in full swing in the Udharbond Legislative Assembly Constituency (LAC) for the upcoming visit of the Hon’ble Chief Minister on December 1, 2025. The Chief Minister is scheduled to lead a special ceremony at DNHS School where financial assistance will be distributed to women entrepreneurs under the flagship Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) scheme.
The MMUA scheme, a major initiative of the Assam government, aims to transform women members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) into “Rural Micro Entrepreneurs” with a target annual income of ₹1 lakh per member, providing them with initial seed capital of ₹10,000 in the first phase.
Administrative Teams Ensure Seamless Arrangements
To guarantee the successful execution and security of the high-profile event, a thorough inspection of the venue was conducted on Monday.
Shri Mihir Kanti Shome, Hon’ble MLA of Udharbond, personally oversaw the preparations, focusing on seating, logistics, and crowd management at the DNHS School venue.
He was accompanied by Shri Mridul Yadav, IAS, District Commissioner, Cachar, who reviewed the administrative arrangements and security protocols for the Chief Minister’s visit.
The inspection, which included other senior administrative and departmental officials, stressed the need for seamless coordination to ensure a comfortable experience for the thousands of women beneficiaries expected to attend.
MMUA Scheme: Empowering Women Entrepreneurs
The upcoming distribution of cheques under the MMUA scheme in Udharbond is part of a massive state-wide campaign to empower women through economic independence. The scheme provides financial support in phases, starting with a non-refundable ₹10,000 seed capital, with further subsidized loan and grant support available in subsequent years based on productive utilization of funds.
The Chief Minister’s presence in Udharbond highlights the scheme’s significance in promoting women’s entrepreneurship and achieving financial inclusion across the Barak Valley region.
The ceremony on December 1 is anticipated to be a major event, symbolizing the government’s push for grassroots economic development and the socio-economic upliftment of women across Cachar.
