Cachar, Assam: Cachar Police achieved a significant victory in the ongoing fight against narcotics, seizing a massive consignment of Yaba tablets worth an estimated ₹26 crore in the black market. The operation took place on Saturday night in the Rongpur area of Silchar.
Based on confidential intelligence, Cachar Police intercepted a truck bearing registration number AS 01 FC 0018 at the Rongpur police petrol post. During the search, officers discovered a hidden compartment within the truck, which was used to conceal the illicit drugs.
90,000 Tablets and Two Arrests
In total, the police recovered 90,000 Yaba tablets from the vehicle. Following the seizure, two individuals have been arrested in connection with the smuggling operation: Dalim Uddin Laskar and Abed Sultan Barbhuiya, both residents of the Dholai police station area.
The Senior Superintendent of Police confirmed the scale of the seizure, highlighting the drugs’ high market value of approximately ₹26 crore.
Smuggling Route Intercepted
It is understood that the narcotics consignment was being smuggled from the Champhai District of Mizoram and was destined for Guwahati via the Cachar district of Assam.
Police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full network and trace the links involved in this high-value international drug trafficking chain.
