Shakir Ahmed, mastermind of ₹400 crore trading scam in Assam, arrested in Kolkata’s Mukundapur and brought to Sribhumi for detailed questioning.
Shakir Ahmed, the mastermind behind a ₹400 crore trading scam in Assam’s Barak Valley, has been arrested in Kolkata’s Mukundapur. Sribhumi police apprehended him following a tip-off, and he has been brought to the district for questioning. Ahmed, accused of collecting funds under false pretenses and fleeing, had been elusive for years.
In addition to Shakir, his brother Jabir Ahmed was also detained. Jabir was presented before the Jadavpur court on Monday and placed under transit remand to Sribhumi.
Police are conducting thorough investigations and rigorous interrogations to identify other individuals involved in the scam. Initial inquiries are being carried out at Badrpur Police Station, with subsequent proceedings at the Superintendent of Police’s office in Sribhumi.
