In a significant initiative aimed at enhancing the psychological well-being and operational resilience of security personnel, the Counter Insurgency and Anti-Terrorism (CIAT) School Silchar, in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry, Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), conducted a comprehensive Mental Health and Wellness Session at Udharbond.
The special awareness drive focused on stress management among troopers, addressing chronic alcohol abuse, and the systematic management of Alcohol Dependence Syndrome (ADS) cases. Over 300 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel actively participated in the interactive workshop.

Dr. Kaustav Sircar, renowned Psychiatrist from SMCH, served as the key speaker. During his address, Dr. Sircar highlighted the unique occupational hazards and high-stress environments faced by armed forces personnel. He emphasized the critical importance of early intervention, emotional resilience, and seeking timely professional medical support to maintain both individual mental wellness and overall operational effectiveness.
The event witnessed active engagement from troopers and officials across various formations, including CIAT School Silchar, Group Centre Silchar, and Composite Hospital (CH) Silchar.
Following the session, Brigadier Bikram Singh, DIG, CIAT Silchar, felicitated Dr. Kaustav Sircar in the presence of senior officers and medical personnel. Brigadier Singh commended the collaborative effort and reiterated the force’s commitment to nurturing a supportive workplace culture that prioritizes physical and mental healthcare.
This mental health drive underscores the CRPF’s continuous efforts to ensure a healthier, mentally robust, and mission-ready force capable of meeting demanding operational challenges.
