Police Seize 6 Gold Biscuits, Arrest 3 Mizoram Residents

Date:

Assam police recovered 6 gold biscuits worth 1 crore and arrested 3 Mizoram residents in a successful operation in Dholai.

In a significant operation, Assam police seized 6 gold biscuits weighing 949 grams in South Dholai’s Rajghat Rangauti area on Saturday evening. The recovered gold, valued at approximately ₹1 crore, was brought from Myanmar. Police arrested three Mizoram residents, including one woman, suspected of smuggling the gold.

The accused, identified as Thangminga (43), Remlalang Heka (28), and Lal Nun Pui (40), are all residents of Aizawl, Mizoram. Acting on a tip-off, a police team from Dholai raided the location and apprehended the individuals while they were allegedly looking for buyers in a local house.

The Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Nomal Mahato, and senior officers rushed to the site to oversee the operation. Authorities believe that the investigation will uncover valuable insights into inter-state gold smuggling networks.

Assam-Mizoram border areas have long been used as corridors for smuggling activities. Despite smugglers adopting new tactics, police remain vigilant in combating such illegal trades.

Further investigation is underway, and the success of this operation has caused panic among smugglers operating in the region, police stated.
