Operation Brahma: Indian Naval Ships Sail with Relief Aid

Date:

Indian Navy ships sail to Myanmar under Operation Brahma, carrying 52 tons of relief materials, reaffirming India’s role as the region’s ‘First Responder’.

In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand on March 28, 2025, the Government of India launched Operation Brahma to provide humanitarian assistance to Myanmar. Under the direction of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) efforts are being coordinated with the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff, Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

As part of the operation, Indian Navy ships Satpura and Savitri from the Eastern Naval Command departed for Yangon on March 29, 2025. Following them, INS Karmuk and LCU 52 from the Andaman and Nicobar Command are set to sail on March 30, 2025, to support the ongoing HADR mission. Together, these ships are carrying approximately 52 tons of relief materials, including essential supplies such as clothing, drinking water, food, medicines, and emergency items.

The Indian Navy’s swift response highlights its commitment to India’s role as a reliable partner and the “First Responder” in the region. The operation reflects India’s dedication to assisting its neighbors during crises and underscores its broader commitment to regional stability and cooperation.
