Congress failed to field candidates for 10 out of 31 Anchalik Panchayat seats in Lakhipur, highlighting BJP’s growing dominance in the region.
Minister Kaushik Rai highlighted Congress’s failure to field candidates for 10 out of 31 Anchalik Panchayat seats in Lakhipur during the nomination process for the 2025 Assam Panchayat elections. This, he claimed, reflects Congress’s decline and the growing support for BJP under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership.
On the last day of filing nominations, BJP leaders, including Minister Kaushik Rai and district BJP president Rupam Saha, joined the nomination process in Lakhipur. BJP candidates filed nominations for all four Zila Parishad seats and 21 out of 31 Anchalik Panchayat seats in the constituency.
For the first time, candidates were able to file nominations within their constituency. The vote counting for Lakhipur’s Panchayat elections will also take place locally on May 7.
Minister Rai expressed gratitude to the people of Lakhipur for their trust in BJP and urged them to continue supporting the party for the local development.
